Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all the other mother's out there!  Apparently the folks at Orlando Ballet didn't realize that today was Mother's Day when they planned the year end recital for all their aspiring ballerinas and jazz dancers.  Catie's recital is at the Orange County Convention Center today at 4 pm.  Nora and Gene are driving over for the event, and my friend Nancy is also attending.  I'm helping out backstage with costumes and assisting the dancers.

Alex and Kevin are staying home to cook dinner for us for after the show.  The area restaurants are so crowded on holidays, and I think it's much nicer to eat at home.

Run for the Roses!

Last Saturday night Jim and I attended a fundraiser at the Gaylord Palms for Kevin and Catie's school, Lake Higland Prep. It was called "Run for the Roses" in honor of the Kentucky Derby. The ladies were encouraged to wear fancy hats for the evening, which was a lot of fun.  I naturally left getting a hat to the last minute and ran out to Marshall's on Friday night and found this black velvet/felt hat, which I decorated with an oversized rose from Walmart.  Kevin told me I looked like a witch, and when he saw the shocked look on my face, as I rather like my hat, he amended his comment to say that I looked like a witch from Harry Potter.

We had an opportunity to bid on the silent auction items, and won lunch off campus with the Lower School Director Mrs. Deloach for our kids and two of their friends.   I assume that they will do this during school time, so that should be fun.
